About The Position

This position supports medication access efforts across outpatient pharmacy services by assisting with prior authorizations and related patient support activities. Responsibilities include reviewing insurance requirements, submitting and tracking prior authorization requests, communicating with providers and payors, and helping ensure timely access to medications for patients.

Requirements

All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
L2 technicians must have CPhT or XCPT technician certification within 6 months of hire.
Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 1, including required competencies.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships.
Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, fax machine, and computer workstation.
Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.
As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department staff assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency.

Nice To Haves

12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience
6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience and two years hospital/institutional pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience
Experience managing projects
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Some knowledge of insurance and billing regarding ambulatory practices
