L1 Analyst

AppGate Cybersecurity

About The Position

We are looking for a highly curious and proactive L1 Analyst to join our GFC operations team. The role serves as the first line of defense, using an analytical approach to investigate and mitigate cybersecurity events for clients. The team values curiosity: the analyst is expected to investigate alerts and anomalies in depth and propose ideas and tools to improve processes. The analyst receives security events through tickets, email, and telephone; monitors for threats and vulnerabilities; resolves technical problems or escalates complex issues; documents incident-management actions; and collaborates with team members and external staff. The role also includes contributing to process and policy improvements and helping train junior analysts and interns.

Requirements

  • Be a student or graduate in Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an operations environment, such as a SOC or Help Desk.
  • Solid understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and web fundamentals.
  • Intermediate English proficiency (B1+ or B2), spoken and written.
  • Curiosity and a passion for investigative work, asking questions, and investigating beyond the surface of an alert.
  • Innovation and proactivity, including bringing forward ideas.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptability to change.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the initial point of contact for security events received via tickets, email, and telephone, communicating with clients.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring, proactive searches, threat analysis, and vulnerability assessments using documented procedures and investigative judgment.
  • Resolve technical problems independently and escalate complex issues to Level 2 analysts and Team Leaders when necessary.
  • Participate in investigations focused on gathering key information, propose improvement ideas, and explore and test monitoring and remediation tools.
  • Document all actions taken in incident management and recommend improvements to GFC processes, procedures, and area security policies.
  • Collaborate with local team members and external staff, and participate in training junior analysts and interns.

Benefits

  • Extensive health insurance coverage for the employee and their family
  • Fitness allowance
  • Remote work stipend
  • Access to an e-learning platform
