About The Position

The Logs and Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on aircraft maintenance, inspections, and modifications for the FA-18 aircraft. This role involves managing logbooks, aeronautical equipment service records (AESRs), historical documents, and electronic databases. The clerk ensures compliance with aviation maintenance directives, supports operational readiness, and assists in audits, inspections, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the OPNAVINST 4790.2H, Naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards, aircraft and engine logbooks, scheduled removal component cards, and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Five years’ aircraft maintenance administration experience.
  • Completion of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Administration Course and the Data Analysis Course, or a military/civilian equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating and updating aircraft logbooks, tracking component life limits and scheduled maintenance, coordinating with maintenance control, and verifying entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Serving as a vital link between maintenance personnel, quality assurance, and command leadership, contributing directly to aircraft airworthiness and mission capability.
  • Documenting all maintenance performed at the Organizational maintenance level.
  • Preparing Naval correspondence documents, maintaining Naval aircraft maintenance publications/files, and preparing and analyzing maintenance reports.
  • Operating data entry equipment, setting up, operating, and performing minor maintenance on the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information System (NALCOMIS) hardware and its associated remote peripheral subsystems.
  • Analyzing charts, graphs, and man-hour statistical information to aid maintenance managers and logisticians.
