About The Position

Pacific Aerospace & Electronics (PacAero) is seeking a Kryoflex Lab Technician to join their team. The company is committed to pushing the boundaries of technology, performance, and innovation. PacAero's core businesses include an array of electronic connectors and housings for the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero's products are hard at work in medical components, such as cardiac-function devices, on key aerospace & defense programs, in space and deep below the earth's surface. The Kryoflex Lab Technician I is responsible for two primary functions: preparation of ceramic materials (powders) for preform production and the final inspection of Kryoflex preforms. This role requires basic knowledge of measurement and hand tools, timers as well as the ability to follow technical instructions and blueprints. This position requires basic knowledge of computer systems.

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • All work in the Ceramics Department exposes employees to lead-based materials.
  • All personnel assigned to the Ceramics Department are subject to periodic blood analysis to monitor and quantify occupational exposure to lead and ensure compliance with established safety standards.
  • Personnel are required to properly utilize all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including but not limited to laboratory coats, particulate-filtering dust masks or respirators, and protective gloves, as specified by departmental safety protocols and task requirements.
  • Compliance with PPE use and safety procedures is mandatory to maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • The job frequently requires lifting and moving material up to 50 Lbs.
  • Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for manipulating tools, loading preforms onto fixtures, final inspection of preforms and performing precise measurements.
  • Many tasks are repetitive and can potentially lead to musculoskeletal issues over time.
  • Kryoflex Lab technicians must have excellent close-up vision, depth perception, inspect finished products, and use measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding tasks for the duration of a shift, including loading materials, monitoring timers, and conducting quality control checks on finished goods.
  • Due to ITAR Requirements, all PacAero employees must be classified as US Persons and are required to show proof upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a basic ability to read and comprehend drawings and other applicable documentation.
  • Understand the necessity of high-quality standards.
  • Ability to find and interpret Engineering Drawings to correctly determine requirements.
  • Proficient usage of microscopes.
  • Ability to learn and use applicable area equipment.
  • Must be able to utilize specified tooling as needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately and efficiently use applicable measuring tools such as, but not limited to Calipers, Micrometers, gauge pins and Digital Indicators.
  • Process both new and in use qualified Kryoflex powders for bead room operations, ensuring material consistency and purity.
  • Learn to use the correct tools, techniques, and equipment necessary for final inspection of completed Kryoflex preforms, ensuring they meet the dimensional and visual preform requirements.
  • Must be willing to work with known hazardous materials, under controlled conditions.
  • Maintain controlled-environment cleanliness standards during all production and inspection activities.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by area Lead or Supervisor.
  • Must be able to retain information and show continued progression towards a Kryoflex Lab Technician II role.
  • Ability to operate equipment including ovens, scales, roller micrometer and microscopes.
  • Maintain workload while achieving departmental efficiency and quality standards.
  • Communicate efficiently with lead and supervisor regarding work status, issues, or material need.
  • In process visual inspections under a microscope to confirm compliance with quality standards.
  • Ability to run the roll micrometer.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperative effort.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area.
  • Provide customers with the highest quality of products and services.
  • Understand and apply appropriate quality improvement processes.
  • Report to work as scheduled.
