About The Position
Welocalize is seeking a Korean (ko-KR) linguist with expertise in Marketing, UI, and Support documentation. This is an ongoing freelance and remote position. It is mandatory for the linguist to be physically located within a US-aligned timezone (including the US and Canada). The role involves translating and copy-editing English (en-US) to Korean (ko-KR) content, including support, marketing, UI, legal, and informational materials. The linguist will use CAT tools like Lucid and Phrase and must maintain a strong understanding of marketing tone, brand voice, and customer-facing communication. The position requires excellent attention to detail, linguistic accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced localization environment. Strong communication skills and responsiveness to feedback are essential.
Requirements
- Native or near-native proficiency in Korean (ko-KR).
- Excellent command of US English.
- Proven experience editing, translating, and proofreading English (en-US) to Korean (ko-KR) content.
- 3+ years of professional experience in translation with a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field, OR 5+ years of professional translation experience without a formal translation degree.
- Demonstrated experience translating informational, marketing, UI, online help, legal, and support content.
- Experience using CAT tools (Lucid and Phrase mentioned).
- Strong understanding of marketing tone, brand voice, and customer-facing communication.
- Excellent attention to detail, terminological consistency, and linguistic accuracy.
- Ability to deliver high-quality translations while meeting deadlines.
- Flexible, reliable, and responsive in a fast-paced localization environment.
- Strong communication skills and openness to feedback and revisions.
- Must be based in a US-aligned timezone (including timezones across the United States, as well as Canada).
