About The Position

The Knowledge Manager advances PAE's learning and knowledge strategy by helping employees access, share, and apply the collective expertise of the firm. The role leads PAE's approach to capturing, organizing, governing, and leveraging organizational knowledge and serves as the business owner for PAE's enterprise knowledge platform/intranet. Working as part of the Learning & Development function, the Knowledge Manager partners with L&D colleagues, Communications, Information Systems (IS), technical leaders, subject matter experts, project teams, and other business functions to connect formal learning with knowledge available in the flow of work. The role helps PAE scale its collective expertise by making trusted knowledge and learning resources easier to find, share, reuse, and maintain. A key priority is preparing PAE's knowledge ecosystem for AI-powered search, assistants, and emerging technologies while preserving institutional knowledge, accelerating employee learning, and reducing duplication of effort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in knowledge management, learning and development, organizational learning, instructional design, employee enablement, content strategy, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Learning & Development or organizational learning, including experience connecting knowledge resources to employee learning, performance, or development.
  • Advanced experience developing or improving enterprise knowledge management practices and implementing or managing an intranet, knowledge platform, digital workplace, or similar employee technology.
  • Strong project and change management capabilities with effective written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex organizational needs into practical processes and employee experiences and use data to inform decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in architecture, engineering, consulting, professional services, or another knowledge-intensive organization preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, enterprise search, or comparable knowledge and collaboration platforms.
  • Proven experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled enterprise search, copilots, assistants, or retrieval-based knowledge solutions.
  • Knowledge management, change management, project management, information architecture, or related professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement PAE’s enterprise knowledge management strategy and roadmap aligned with business and people strategies.
  • Establish standards and governance for how organizational knowledge is created, organized, maintained, shared, archived, and retired.
  • Develop and maintain PAE's enterprise taxonomy, metadata standards, information architecture, and content classifications.
  • Identify and address gaps, outdated or duplicative content, conflicting information, and single points to organizational dependency.
  • Establish a practical framework for distinguishing authoritative information from informal or collaborative content.
  • Serve as business product owner for PAE's enterprise knowledge platform/intranet, leading business requirements, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with IS on technology architecture, security, permissions, integrations, administration, and technical capabilities.
  • Partner with Communications on editorial strategy, company communications, publishing standards, and employee experience.
  • Use platform analytics, search behavior, employee feedback, and content performance to improve findability, usability, and platform effectiveness.
  • Develop scalable processes for capturing and sharing institutional knowledge, technical expertise, project experience, lessons learned, and proven practices.
  • Partner with technical and business leaders to identify high-value and critical knowledge for preservation and reuse.
  • Improve access to reusable resources such as standards, templates, methodologies, best practices, case studies, tools, and project examples.
  • Support communities of practice, SME networks, lessons learned, peer learning, and other mechanisms that connect employees with expertise across PAE.
  • Partner with L&D colleagues to create an integrated learning and knowledge ecosystem that supports both structured development and learning in the flow of work.
  • Connect learning programs and pathways with relevant, knowledge resources, tools, SMEs, and communities of practice.
  • Partner with L&D and SMEs to identify recurring knowledge needs and organizational expertise into reusable learning resources, guides, job aids, FAQs, case studies, and other performance-support tools.
  • Use knowledge and search insights to help identify emerging learning needs and capability gaps across PAE.
  • Partner with IS and business leaders to prepare PAE's organizational knowledge for AI-powered search, assistants, agents, and other emerging capabilities.
  • Establish standards for identifying authoritative, current, properly permissioned, and AI-ready content.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value AI knowledge use cases that improve employee access to trusted PAE knowledge.
  • Ensure AI knowledge solutions align with PAE’s information security, confidentiality, permissions, and governance requirements.
