About The Position

A knockout operator removes cores from aluminum castings after they come out of the mold, using a jack hammer and other handling equipment, and gets the cast parts ready for the next stage of production. This is physical, hands-on work in a safe, efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in high-temperature environments.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat or soft cap.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified to transport castings and scrap materials using forklifts, hoists, or pallet jacks.

Responsibilities

  • Remove cores from aluminum castings.
  • Remove aluminum castings from sand molds after cooling.
  • Operate shakeout equipment, jack hammer, or other material handling equipment.
  • Inspect castings for obvious defects such as cracks, incomplete fills, or damage.
  • Transport castings and scrap materials using forklifts, hoists, or pallet jacks (if certified).
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and cleaning of foundry equipment.
