About The Position

The Knit Sew In Operator is responsible for using work orders to find truck numbers recorded under the heading “to frame.” They will bring the proper trucks (staged in the slit area) to the entrance end of the frame, check the MO number written in the end of the piece, and sew fabric in with a sewing machine. The operator will put a “flag” on the right side of the beginning of each lot and notify the exit end operator of the new lot. A visual check is required to ensure the “face” is up and that the fabric in each truck matches as each truck of a single lot is sewn in. The operator will return empty trucks to the “empty truck” area within the slit area and clean out any debris left over in the truck. They must immediately notify the machine operator and exit end operator of any continuous defects. Machine upkeep includes blowing down the machine, sweeping the area, and keeping all rollers free of grease and strings. The operator will mix finish per SOP and clean tanks after use. Maintaining leader cloth to be sewn in as needed is also part of the role. The position is responsible for fabric quality, frame efficiency, and housekeeping. The operator must follow all safety procedures and policies and advise supervision of any unsafe conditions. Any other duties as requested by supervision may also be assigned.
