About The Position

The Kitchen Worker is responsible for all operations for their specific area. This includes preparing tableware for washing, collecting and washing soiled pots, re-stacking cleaned pots, removing garbage and refuse for recycling, mopping and sweeping floors, properly maintaining and distributing company assets, setting up the dishwashing machine, and stacking and storing clean dishes in proper kitchen areas, all while adhering to safety policies and procedures. The role also involves monitoring and ensuring the quality and efficiency of service at assigned areas of the property, performing all duties within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. The position requires maintaining clean and organized kitchen areas, handling tasks appropriately, notifying supervisors of any problems, and using proper cleaning chemicals. Daily checklists for the kitchen area must be picked up. Detailed cleaning of kitchen and peripheral equipment, including ovens, fryers, hot boxes, and coolers, is also a key responsibility. Employees must maintain a current understanding of information security policies and procedures. Exceptional customer service is expected, along with pleasant, friendly, and professional communication with patrons, supervisors, managers, and staff. Meeting attendance guidelines and completing all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment are mandatory. Attendance at necessary meetings is also required. Duties, responsibilities, requirements, and expectations are subject to change as needed, and hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • Must possess good communication skills including the ability to read, write and speak effectively to employees as well as customers.
  • Understand and comply with policies and procedures, daily memos, chemical labels and other instructions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and move freely for extended periods of time.
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity is required along with the handling of objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to physical risk, which requires following basic safety precautions.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Kitchen areas are clean and organized.
  • Capable of handling any task in the appropriate manner; notify the Supervisor of any problem.
  • Use proper cleaning chemicals with the proper task.
  • Pick up your daily checklist for your kitchen area.
  • Prepare tableware for washing, i.e., scraping plates, presoaking silverware, and placing all items to be washed in their proper dishwasher rack.
  • Set up the dishwashing machine; ensuring that drains are closed, tanks are filled, temperatures are at correct levels and detergent is at the proper level.
  • Wash all dishes and kitchen equipment by using sprayer nozzle, baskets or conveyors, immersing objects in washing and rinsing solutions, or scrubbing by hand to remove debris.
  • Dry all objects using cloth or drying oven, stacking and storing all dishes and kitchen equipment in the appropriate place.
  • Thoroughly clean dishwashing equipment and all working areas.
  • Collect all soiled pots, wash and restock clean pots on shelves.
  • Remove all garbage and refuse, mop and sweep floors, wash walls and ceiling tiles.
  • Sanitize all cooking equipment, adhering to regulatory, departmental and company policies in an ethical manner.
  • Maintain a neat, personal appearance and uphold company appearance standards.
  • Detail cleaning of kitchen and peripheral equipment, including ovens, fryers, hot boxes, coolers, etc.
  • Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.
