About The Position

This position is responsible for following the schedule of operations, weighing ingredients, recording necessary information for each batch, and ensuring the quality and consistency of the product. The Kitchen Operator also plays a key role in maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment and actively participates as a member of the team to ensure best practices and continuous improvement. This role requires adherence to Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives, including quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for the entire shift.
  • Basic math skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the order of the schedule and call for batches from the meat room, as required.
  • Weigh all ingredients and record weight before batching.
  • Record lot numbers and supplier for each ingredient used.
  • Perform final checks for Quality Control and notify Q.C and supervisor of anything unusual (e.g., batch too thick, too thin, off-color, off odor).
  • Follow formula guidelines listed on each batch sheet.
  • Record batching information for each batch made on formula kitchen sheets, including gravy weight, water level, water temp, tri-blender R.P.M.'s, final batch weight, fill temps, and additives.
  • Clean and sanitize the entire kitchen during can size changeovers or when notified by Supervisor.
  • Follow rinse procedures for cleaning the emulsifier and tanks 1, 2, & 3.
  • Regulate the dropping temperature, as required.
  • Follow batch sheet guidelines or Supervisor instructions.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team leader and team to resolve issues.
  • Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand the responsibility to support these systems.
  • Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Act and the regulations.
  • Use or wear required equipment, protective devices, or clothing.
  • Report the absence or defect of any equipment or protective device that may endanger oneself or another worker.
  • Report any contravention of the Act or regulations or the existence of any hazard.
  • Do not remove or make ineffective any protective device without providing an adequate temporary device and replace it immediately when the need has ceased.
  • Do not use or operate any equipment, machine, device, or thing or work in a manner that may endanger oneself or any other worker.
  • Do not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct.
