About The Position

This position is responsible for following the schedule, weighing ingredients, recording batching information, and cleaning the kitchen area. The Kitchen Operator plays a crucial role in quality control by performing final checks and reporting any unusual observations to the supervisor. This role also involves participating as a team member, adhering to Simmons Operating systems principles, and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The operator must comply with safety regulations, use required personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or defects.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for the entire shift.
  • Basic math skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the order of the schedule and call for batches from the meat room, as required.
  • Weigh all ingredients and record weight before batching.
  • Record lot numbers and supplier for each ingredient used.
  • Perform final checks for Quality Control and notify Q.C. and supervisor of anything unusual (e.g., batch too thick, too thin, off-color, off odor).
  • Follow formula guidelines listed on each batch sheet.
  • Record batching information for each batch made on formula kitchen sheets, including gravy weight, water level, water temp, tri-blender R.P.M.'s, final batch weight, fill temps, and additives.
  • Clean and sanitize the entire kitchen during can size changeovers or when notified by the Supervisor.
  • Follow rinse procedures for cleaning the emulsifier and tanks 1, 2, & 3.
  • Regulate the dropping temperature, as required.
  • Follow batch sheet guidelines or Supervisor instructions.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems and understand the responsibility to support these systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
  • Work in compliance with safety regulations, use required personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or defects.
