About The Position

We are a fast-growing direct-to-consumer frozen-meal business seeking an operations leader to build systems and transform our daily meal production and inventory into a predictable, measurable process. This hands-on role is responsible for the people, plan, inventory, food cost, quality, and food safety of our Logan facility. The core job is to ensure the right meals are made, staged, and shipped on time, every day, by building repeatable processes, inventory discipline, and clear communication to enable scaling without chaos. You will turn a largely manual operation into a documented, measurable one.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build systems and processes, transforming chaotic or manual operations into documented, measurable ones.
  • Proactive planner who anticipates demand and stages ahead.
  • Clear, proactive communicator who follows through on direction, asks questions, thinks critically, escalates early, and keeps stakeholders informed.
  • Strong experience in inventory management and production planning.
  • Comfortable owning facilities and light fleet logistics, including coordinating repair vendors and vehicle maintenance.
  • Cost-conscious with fluency in food cost, labor efficiency, and waste management.
  • Food-safety certified (ServSafe/HACCP) or ready to certify quickly.
  • Capable and dependable people leader who remains calm and decisive under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in direct-to-consumer/ecommerce food (frozen or fresh) and cold-chain shipping.
  • Familiarity with Shopify and inventory tools (Fishbowl or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI tools like Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT and willingness to learn.
  • Experience standing up SOPs or opening/scaling a commercial kitchen/production facility.
  • Experience negotiating scope, price, and delivery deadlines with vendors and managing them to contracts.
  • Allergen-program or dietary-modification experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan daily and weekly production to actual demand, including open orders, sales trends, and modifications, to ensure accurate production and avoid stockouts.
  • Own inventory management for raw goods, ingredients, packaging, and finished Ready-to-Ship (RTS) meals, including accurate counts, par levels, and reorder triggers.
  • Establish and manage a dependable inventory/production system (evaluating tools like Fishbowl) to ensure trustworthy data for planning and shipping.
  • Maintain freezer organization and staging for efficient order fulfillment.
  • Own on-time fulfillment against shipping SLAs, ensuring orders ship complete and correct, including allergen-safe orders.
  • Manage shipping and packaging quality end-to-end, including cold-chain integrity and presentation.
  • Manage food cost/COGS to target and control waste.
  • Track and improve labor efficiency and daily throughput.
  • Own vendor relationships, ordering cadence, and price negotiation for ingredients and packaging.
  • Manage facility maintenance and repair vendors, ensuring the space is clean, safe, and audit-ready.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the landlord/property manager on building issues.
  • Oversee upkeep of company delivery vehicles, including maintenance, registration, and cleanliness.
  • Implement and enforce food-safety and sanitation standards (HACCP/ServSafe) and maintain audit readiness.
  • Own the allergen-safe workflow and accurate labeling.
  • Hold recipe, portioning, and packaging standards across all shifts.
  • Schedule, hire, train, and lead the kitchen team and shift leads, building a dependable team.
  • Set the daily plan, communicate priorities clearly to the floor, and ensure execution.
  • Delegate to Shift Leads to manage daily operations once systems are in place.
  • Provide reliable start-of-day and end-of-day visibility to remote leadership on production, shipping, inventory, and order status.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the operation is not reliant on a single individual.
  • Communicate proactively, escalate issues early, and coordinate across departments.
