About The Position

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for daily food service operations at an assigned school site. The role oversees food preparation and service, trains kitchen staff, manages inventory, maintains cleanliness and safety standards, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies. It combines hands-on kitchen support with leadership in a fast-paced school kitchen environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• Food service experience.
• Reliable transportation.
• Comfort working around children and in a school environment.
• Must pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
• Strong communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Basic math and computer literacy.
• Ability to stand for a full shift and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent walking, reaching, bending, and use of hands.

Nice To Haves

• School nutrition experience.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Inventory and ordering experience.
• Experience with POS systems and online reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee food production and service to meet quality, safety, and portion standards.
• Train and supervise kitchen staff on recipes, equipment safety, and sanitation.
• Prepare daily and weekly paperwork, reports, and schedules.
• Monitor inventory and ensure proper ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and report repair needs.
• Enforce compliance with HACCP, health department regulations, and ServSafe standards.
• Manage labor and ensure schedules align with staffing and budget needs.
• Uphold company policies and administer fair, consistent performance evaluations.
• Maintain accurate temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and food safety documentation.
• Follow proper cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
• Lead on-site kitchen operations to ensure they are smooth, safe, and efficient.
• Submit reports and complete assigned tasks on time.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the school and food service program.
