About the Facility Macleod Aged Care is a 52‑bed residential aged care home in Macleod, Melbourne, close to public transport and local amenities. The home offers comfortable accommodation, communal lounges and a supportive, community‑focused care team. We are looking for Kitchen Hands to join our aged care team at Macleod Aged Care, in a (casual or permanent part‑time) capacity. About the Role As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role behind the scenes, helping ensure our residents enjoy safe, nutritious, and well-presented meals every day. Your work will directly support the comfort and wellbeing of those in our care. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and being part of a supportive team.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
  • Good time management and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and reliability
  • A National Police Clearance or NDIS Screening Check, or willingness to obtain this
  • Understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to obtain certification)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, and plating
  • Support meal service and ensure timely delivery of food to residents
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards at all times
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage, and kitchen organisation
  • Work closely with cooks and chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
