About The Position

Wasauksing First Nation is accepting applications for a Kitchen Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Social Wellbeing Manager of Social Services, a Kitchen Coordinator oversees daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, managing inventory, and maintaining meal quality. Key duties include scheduling staff/volunteers, ordering supplies, maintaining sanitation standards, and often preparing or serving food. They require Food Handler certification, leadership skills, and the ability to lift heavy items.

Requirements

  • Food Handler/Food Safety Training
  • 1-3 years of experience in food service or commercial kitchen environments
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 kg. (44 lbs)
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable personal vehicle
  • Willing to work flexible hours as required, including evenings and weekends
  • Provide a vulnerable sector or criminal record check

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, managing inventory, and maintaining meal quality.
  • Schedule staff/volunteers.
  • Order food and supplies.
  • Maintain sanitation standards.
  • Prepare or serve food.
  • Ensure health regulations are met.
  • Maintain temperature logs.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial or local health departments.
  • Create an inventory system.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Manage petty cash.
  • Manage staff & volunteer supervision.
  • Train kitchen staff or volunteers.
  • Ensure proper food handling procedures.
  • Complete meal service, and plan menus.
  • Prepare, or assist with cooking nutritious meals while accommodating special dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of Wasauksing First Nation and any other relevant policies and procedures from external agencies and partners.
