About The Position

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, non-profit organization, has a job opening for a Kitchen Assistant for the Inclement Weather Center located in Columbia, SC. This role assists in the preparation, delivery, and serving of meals, cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes, and maintains the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas by sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors. The Kitchen Assistant also stocks foods, beverages, and supplies safely and efficiently, empties trash, and ensures all kitchen work adheres to health regulations for food preparation, serving, and storage. Additionally, this position involves assisting in the supervision of kitchen volunteers and driving a van to load and unload prepared foods for service.

Requirements

• One year of experience working in a kitchen is preferred, Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid State Driver’s License (REQUIRED)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation, delivery, and serving of meals.
