About The Position

At Kids Unlimited, we recognize the importance of healthy food and prioritize nutrition education, an incredible school food program, and garden education. Our food program provides all students with free breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, prepared from scratch in our full kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant plays a key role in preparing nutritious food and serving meals to children. This position also involves assisting with dishwashing, acting as a positive role model for children regarding food habits, and adhering to Kids Unlimited policies and procedures, as well as USDA, CACFP, and NSLP requirements. The role requires positive and nurturing interaction with children, parents, and co-workers, demonstrating sensitivity to their needs.

Requirements

• Must relate in a positive, nurturing way, both verbally and physically
• Must be sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and co-workers
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Must pass a background check clearance

Responsibilities

• Helps to prepare nutritious food
• Serves meals to children
• Assists with washing dishes, utensils, and cookware
• Serves as a role model for the children in their attitudes and habits toward food
• Responsible for following Kids Unlimited policies and procedures
• Responsible for following USDA, CACFP and NSLP requirements
• Relates in a positive, nurturing way, both verbally and physically
• Is sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and co-workers
