About The Position

The Kitchen and Cafeteria Helper performs duties supporting kitchen and cafeteria operations, including dishwashing, transporting dishes, food preparation, patient meal service, cafeteria customer service, and cleaning preparation and service areas. The role also supports catered meals, vending machine operations, supply storage, and related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and cafeteria area.
• Prepare, serve, and transport patient trays, snacks, or supplements; retrieve trays and wash and store them as needed.
• Arrange and stock food on the cafeteria counter, serve cafeteria customers, check food temperatures on steam tables, and restock condiments and other items.
• Check temperatures of refrigerators and freezers and check food temperatures before meals are served.
• Clean preparation areas and equipment.
• Operate the cash register, collect cafeteria payments, and record cash after snack and meal periods.
• Assist with preparing, serving, and cleaning up catered meals.
• Assist with vending machine operations as needed.
• Clean dishes and meal-serving utensils, including scraping, racking, and hand-washing dishes, trays, and silverware.
• Assist on the trayveyor line during patient tray service.
• Assist with storing staple goods and other supplies as needed.
• Dispose of garbage accumulated during the assigned shift and clean garbage cans and the surrounding area.
• Clean pots and pans as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
