About The Position

Project FIND's mission is to provide low- and moderate-income and homeless seniors with the services and support they need to enrich their lives and live independently. Project FIND operates three supportive housing residences and four senior centers. The Kitchen Aide position is at one of the Older Adult Centers, which are dedicated sites providing a variety of meals, activities, and services to people over the age of 60. The Kitchen Aide is responsible for assisting the Cook in food service cooking and adherence to sanitation standards, meeting all Department for the Aging and Department of Health requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to lift heavy objects – up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a kitchen position
Preferably with senior center experience

Responsibilities

Assist with preparation, cooking and portioning of food.
Assist with meal service, and packaging and/or delivery of meals as needed.
Cleaning of pots, pans, cooking utensils and trays.
Assist with cleaning the kitchen, kitchen equipment, dining and serving areas and storage.
Empties waste baskets and garbage cans.
Receive, unpack, store and label food and supplies while following all mandates and procedures.
Maintains the Center’s kitchen in accordance with the policies established by the New York City Department of Health (DOH) and the New York City for the Aging (DFTA).
Attend mandatory in-service training.
Adhere to the cleaning schedule and ensure that highly used areas are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
Responsible for taking and recording temperatures of meals prior to serving and follows mandates and procedures to ensure compliance.
Responsible for taking and recording the temperatures of the refrigerators and freezers in the mornings and afternoons to ensure equipment is functioning.
In absence of janitor, assuming responsibilities for cleaning other areas of center and garbage removal.
Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
