About The Position

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, performs routine manual work in connection with the kitchen operations of a nutrition program. An incumbent of this class performs a variety of routine manual tasks associated with the cleaning of the kitchen area, dining area, and food preparation equipment. This position is for the Senior Citizens' Center and is contingent on Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget approval.

Requirements

• Must be able to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED within one month of hire.
• Knowledge of sanitary cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Knowledge of manual labor.
• Skill in using cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience in a commercial kitchen as a dishwasher or kitchen assistant is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Loads, operates and unloads dishwashing machines and washes food preparation and serving equipment, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
• Delivers and stores clean dishes and utensils to the proper storage area.
• Cleans kitchen area, tables, cabinets, equipment, etc.
• Disposes of trash and garbage.
• Brings food deliveries to storage area(s).
• Assists in loading food trays on carts or trucks for delivery.
• Maintains and cleans storage area and dining room areas; assists cook(s) in moving/lifting bulk food items, stockpots, trays, etc..
• Performs related kitchen duties as required and assigned.
