About The Position

Performs functions related to preparing patient menus, preparing and delivering meals and nourishment, handling tube feedings, and delivering trays to patients. Duties may include other major or minor tasks not listed, and specific functions may change from time to time.

Requirements

• Previous institutional or fast-food kitchen experience is preferred.
• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.
• No certifications or licensure are required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient menus have the correct name, unit, and room number and comply with prescribed diets, diet exchanges, fluid restrictions, and food preferences.
• Calculate food production needs.
• Visit patients as needed to discuss menu and food preferences.
• Obtain and enter patient nutrition information on the Kardex.
• Assemble patient trays and accurately prepare and deliver meals within established meal times and in accordance with therapeutic diets as needed.
• Deliver food carts to patient care units as needed and return carts to the kitchen at designated times.
• Prepare and deliver snacks, tube feedings, and bulk nourishment to appropriate locations as instructed and needed.
• Clean pots, pans, and utensils using proper sanitizing procedures.
• Operate the cash register.
