About The Position

This is a per diem position, working an estimated 24-29 hours per week. The role involves assisting with food preparation, packaging meals, and delivering meals to congregate and homebound seniors. The position also requires assisting in kitchen operations as needed. The driver must be prepared to drive in all traffic, on various types of roads, and in all weather conditions, using a company vehicle for meal deliveries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Current Driver License in the State of California or License from legal residence state
  • Clean driver’s record
  • Ability to proficiently maneuver through emails and all electronic applications used for the job.
  • Prolonged, extensive, and considerable standing/sitting/walking/lifting.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and mobility.
  • Always reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Ability to handle multiple job task functions simultaneously.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others as a team member.
  • Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
  • Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals to homebound seniors in a timely manner.
  • Deliver meals to congregate sites in a timely manner with temperature a concern.
  • Maintain accurate records of meals, vehicle, mileage, and temperature logs.
  • Interact with seniors with concern and patience.
  • Serve meals and clean up serving areas and kitchen after use.
  • Assist in packaging, limited food preparation, and packing of home-delivered meals.
  • Drive safely in all weather conditions.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to promote safe food handling.
  • Take direction from all staff members in assisting with the Kitchen, Nutrition Program, and other tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor.
  • Maintain the vehicle clean and follow up with maintenance to meet safety regulations and registration.
  • Follow the process for Mandated Reporter.
  • Maintain control of client information secure in accordance with San Diego County and Federal and State regulations, SYHealth privacy policies, and as applicable by law.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as needed, assigned, and/or as requested by immediate lead staff.
  • Adhere to SYHealth and MHCC Department’s policies and best practices, ensuring staff compliance to attendance and punctuality.
  • Understand and work Saturdays and extended hours if schedule changes and cooperate with all schedule changes.
