About The Position

The Newly Institute is seeking a Kinesiologist to join their innovative, purpose-driven, and multi-disciplinary clinical team. The institute is leading a paradigm shift in the Canadian healthcare system by building a network of purpose-built mental health clinics across Canada. They fuse a bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment model with medically managed therapies, offering intensive outpatient programs for various mental health conditions. The Kinesiologist will provide support and treatment for adult clients, with an emphasis on treating first responders, and will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive client outcomes. This role involves administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and communicating with third-party funders.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working as a Kinesiologist is required.
  • 1 year of experience in one-on-one exercise prescription is required.
  • 1 year experience facilitating group exercise classes is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology is required.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is required.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is also required.
  • Professional liability insurance is required.
  • Offers are conditional, subject to employment reference checks and a clear police background check inclusive of vulnerable sectors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading and/or supporting program development is a significant asset.
  • Experience performing functional capacity evaluation using Workwell or Matheson methodology is a significant asset.
  • A master’s degree in Kinesiology or related field is an asset.
  • A certificate in Workwell or Matheson Functional Capacity Evaluation is an asset.
  • An active registration with New Brunswick Kinesiology Association and/or Canadian Kinesiology Alliance is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and complete orientation sessions for clients when initiating treatment and ensure smooth transition of clients into program.
  • Provide thorough assessment and exercise prescription for clients within a holistic approach.
  • Support intake coordinator in managing WCB waitlist and provide information regarding program.
  • Design rehabilitation plans for clients with physical injuries with the goal of returning client to pre-accident level.
  • Complete functional testing evaluation and re-assessments as indicated.
  • Assist in providing ongoing case management and client support.
  • Facilitate one to one and group exercise and pain education sessions.
  • Participate and facilitate weekly case consultations with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Oversee client care, communicating progress, concerns, and outcomes with other clinicians.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to ensure treatment plans are aligned.
  • Ensure same day completion of session notes.
  • Template and complete initial, progress, and discharge reports for funders. Ensure these reports are faxed out in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular communication with the claim owner or case manager for client’s progress in programming, scheduling of case conferences and extension requests etc.
  • Monitor schedule, and communicating with administrative team to ensure clients are booked in appropriate sessions and appointments.
  • Other responsibilities related to the role and scope of work may be assigned.
