Job SummaryThe Kindergarten Teacher at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School is responsible for providing a nurturing, faith-centered learning environment that supports the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development of young learners. This role delivers developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with diocesan and school standards while fostering a welcoming, structured classroom rooted in Catholic values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (required).
  • Valid teaching certification or eligibility (preferred).
  • Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission of St. Gerard Majella Catholic School.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, and Religion.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, traditions, and prayer into daily instruction and classroom routines.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that promotes social-emotional development and positive behavior.
  • Support students’ readiness skills, including independence, cooperation, communication, and responsibility.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles, abilities, and developmental needs.
  • Use formative assessments, observations, and progress monitoring to guide instruction and support student growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress, expectations, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with faculty, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgical celebrations, and school community events.
  • Adhere to all school policies, diocesan guidelines, and professional expectations.
