The Fletcher Maynard Academy seeks an experienced early childhood teacher to join their caring and innovative community to teach JK/K. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting the JK/K curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and/or the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Fletcher Maynard Academy and be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels. The teacher will teach all elementary subjects. The teacher will implement the Responsive Classroom model, including daily class meetings and responsive school discipline. The teacher will collaborate closely with the other JK and K teachers and with all team members, including but not limited to the JK-2 cluster, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel. Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessment, in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs. Integrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community. Partner with families and include them in the students’ learning and development.
