The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing an appropriate educational atmosphere that encourages positive student learning and for participating in a dynamic setting with other classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, and other staff members in the development and implementation of the school’s programs and goals. The Kindergarten school teacher is responsible for creating a welcoming classroom environment. The Kindergarten teacher prepares younger students for future education by teaching them vital subjects, such as religion, reading, science, social studies, and mathematics. The teacher also helps students develop critical thinking skills, learn to solve problems, and understand abstract ideas. The teacher must engage students in learning and teach students how to study, communicate, and work with others. The teacher develops and enforces classroom rules to teach proper behavior. The candidate must be creative as well as patient, and plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, preparing class projects, giving feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading tests and assignments in a timely manner. Maintains all required record keeping, lesson planning, and other duties while maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and other school matters. Communicates with parents on a regular basis regarding assignments, events, and individual student needs. Collaborates as a team player with teaching colleagues and administration. Has the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with parents, students, and co-workers. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. All duties, schedules, and responsibilities are assigned by the principal. Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in the school-sponsored professional development programs.
