About The Position

Sunlight Christian Academy is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and Christ-centered individual to serve as a Kindergarten Assistant / Floating Support Staff member. This position plays a vital role in supporting classroom instruction, supervising students throughout the school day, assisting with daily operations, and helping create a safe, joyful, and engaging learning environment rooted in biblical values. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, a servant’s heart, strong teamwork skills, and a genuine love for children. This individual must be willing to assist wherever needed throughout the campus, including supporting classroom teachers, supervising students, transporting students to specials and lunch, covering assigned duties, and substituting in classrooms when necessary. Requirements

  • A practicing Christian who attends church regularly.
  • Ability to consistently model Christ-like character, professionalism, and a servant-hearted attitude
  • Strong classroom management and student supervision skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Flexible, dependable, and willing to assist in a variety of roles throughout the school day
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle situations with professionalism and discretion
  • Comfortable leading and supervising students independently when needed
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced school environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must meet all state and school requirements for working in a school environment, including successful completion of background screening and fingerprinting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, ministry, or related setting preferred
  • Basic technology skills and familiarity with classroom or school-related technology preferred
  • Associate’s degree, CDA, paraprofessional certification, or college coursework in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a structured, engaging, and Christ-centered classroom environment
  • Provide small group and one-on-one student support as directed
  • Support classroom management, routines, and transitions throughout the day
  • Step in as a substitute teacher when needed, following lesson plans and maintaining continuity
  • Escort students safely to specials, lunch, recess, and other campus locations
  • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties
  • Ensure a safe, orderly, and positive environment at all times
  • Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and material setup
  • Complete basic administrative tasks such as copying, organizing, and preparing resources
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning classroom environment
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Communicate in a clear, kind, and professional manner
  • Support school-wide events, initiatives, and team responsibilities as assigned
  • Consistently model Christ-like behavior in all interactions
  • Reflect God’s love and serve as a positive influence within the school community
  • Uphold and actively demonstrate the Sunlight Way
