About The Position

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a contribution-motivated Taylor Forklift Driver to join its Kilns Team in Talladega, Alabama. This onsite role is responsible for stacking and loading lumber into kilns while helping meet production levels. Starting pay is $20.00 per hour, based on experience, with the opportunity to increase compensation based on skills and contribution to mill performance. The schedule is a 12-hour, 2/2/3 rotating shift, from 5:30 to 5:30. Candidates must be flexible and available to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as production needs require.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience driving or operating a forklift, backhoe, front-end loader, and/or skid-steer-type equipment in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
Flexibility and availability to work any shift, including overtime, holidays, and weekends based on production needs.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, including 6 or more months of sawmill experience using heavy equipment.
Prior experience operating a Taylor Forklift.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based production reporting system applications.

Responsibilities

Follow plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, and actively participate in the safety program.
Respond appropriately to critical alarms and follow fire, high-temperature, and carbon monoxide alarm procedures.
Stack lumber neatly and keep it well organized.
Perform basic forklift maintenance and housekeeping.
Keep the work area neat and organized, maintaining housekeeping each shift.
Use the MOE system to enter work orders for forklift or kiln needs.
Adjust starting and stopping times to fit production needs.
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or coordinator.
