About The Position

Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries, is seeking a Kiln Operator to monitor tile movement through the kiln firing process in ceramic tile manufacturing. The role helps ensure efficient kiln operations and product quality while following operating procedures, safety requirements, and the control plan. The operator works collaboratively with the team, maintains a clean and organized workstation, completes required training, and reports operational, safety, or health concerns to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good record-keeping skills.
Good listening skills.
Accurate measurement capability.
Ability to understand and speak basic English.
Ability to stand, use hands, reach, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; may sometimes need to sit, climb, or balance.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Monitor tile entering and exiting the kiln to ensure the process operates efficiently.
Inspect tile for defects.
Record kiln temperature every hour during the shift.
Collect tile samples for the lab.
Monitor equipment or processes and report problems to a supervisor.
Follow ISO operating procedures and the control plan.
Communicate and cooperate with the team.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation and comply with safety and health requirements.
Be at the workstation at shift change.
Complete required ergonomic, safety, health, and environmental training.
Identify and adjust workstation arrangements, work practices, and workflow to reduce risk factors.
Report risk factors that cannot be controlled, symptoms of injury or illness, and concerns when first noted.
Participate in incident investigations.
Perform other duties as required.
