About The Position

The CNE, often affectionately referred to as The Ex, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top ten agricultural fairs in North America, attracting approximately 1.6 million visitors annually over the course of its 18-day run. With something for everyone, the CNE offers a wide range of attractions and interactive entertainment experiences including: concerts, midway rides and games, shopping, exhibits, tech and gaming hubs, food and wacky treats! Requirements

  • Ability to stand or be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in all weather conditions (sun, heat, wind, cold, rain)
  • Comfortable with loud noises and crowds
  • Comfortable working with children of all ages
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment (50lbs)
  • Required to dress in appropriate uniform

  • Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years
  • G2 class License is required
  • Available to work all 18 days of the fair (August 21st - September 7th, 2026) and the beginning of August for training
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and Labour Day
  • Able to attend Mandatory Orientation Session and Job-Specific Training
  • Applicants are asked to outline their various extra-curricular activities/interests/hobbies on their application

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of Kids’ World and the Kids’ World Stage
  • Ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the stage area, assist performers with the daily set-up and tear-down of props, set-up and tear-down of sound equipment and general crowd control
  • Assist with the daily opening and closing of various activities within Kids’ World
  • Ensure the various program areas are always maintained and presentable (i.e., straightening barriers, stanchions, benches, equipment, wiping down toys and built structures, etc.)
  • Supervision of area to avoid theft, loss, and breakage
  • Answer basic questions from the general public regarding programming, attractions, facilities, services (i.e., location of washrooms, bank machines, food vendors, Found Children, First Aid)
  • Assist, as required, with various other programs and activities managed by the Arts & Heritage department including transport and delivery of supplies and water
