About The Position

The Kids Pastor serves Greenhouse Church families and children by creating spirit-filled, dynamic, engaging, hospitable, and safe environments where children grow in love, faith, and knowledge of God. This leader champions a growing Kids Ministry marked by deep discipleship, an excellent Sunday experience, strong partnership with parents, meaningful inclusion of every child, and healthy teams of staff and volunteer leaders. The Kids Pastor provides vision, leadership, creativity, and pastoral care for weekly ministry, family engagement, and larger-scale church events while contributing to the team spirit of the staff and congregation through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, and prayer.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates an active and growing relationship with Christ and a consistent life of prayer and Scripture.
  • Meets Greenhouse Church's biblical qualifications and expectations for pastoral leadership.
  • Is a participating member of Greenhouse Church and actively engages in Greenhouse discipleship and community in a microchurch.
  • Demonstrates ongoing commitment to personal, spiritual, and ministry leadership development.
  • Continues to grow in this area of ministry by reading books, attending ministry-specific leadership conferences, and listening to podcasts.
  • High competency in recruiting, galvanizing, and gathering people.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, systems, and follow-up.
  • Experience leading volunteers or ministry teams is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, public speaking, and vision-casting communication skills.
  • Places a high value on unity (According to Ephesians 4:3).
  • Lives a life above reproach (1 Timothy 3).
  • Models a life of holiness, purity and integrity (Hebrews 12:14).
  • Has a good grasp of scripture and not given to untested points of view (Colossians 2:8).
  • Devotes themselves to prayer (Colossians 4:2).
  • Has a persevering spirit and soul (James 1:4).
  • Is strong and stable and not given to double-mindedness (James 1:8).

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant ministry experience preferred.
  • Previous experience leading children's ministry, staff, and/or volunteer teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and strategic leadership for Greenhouse Kids, establishing goals and strategies that support spiritual growth, family engagement, ministry excellence, and sustainable numerical growth.
  • Partner with the Youth Team to effectively transition rising 6th-graders into our Youth Group.
  • Track and evaluate attendance, growth, engagement, and other key ministry indicators; develop strategies in response to trends and opportunities.
  • Oversee Sunday services and ensure the Kids experience remains Spirit-filled, dynamic, engaging, hospitable, safe, and excellent as the ministry grows.
  • Create intentional opportunities to integrate children into Sunday expressions, including worship leadership, children’s baptisms, and other appropriate moments in the life of the church.
  • Strengthen live worship in Kids environments by developing strategies that increase children’s participation in singing and create pathways for kids to help lead worship.
  • Develop Kids programming for larger-scale church events rather than functioning primarily as childcare (for example, a Greenhouse Conference Kids Track).
  • Oversee curriculum and preserve the ministry’s commitment to biblically grounded, age-appropriate discipleship.
  • Oversee and champion Kids Camp as a key discipleship and relational environment.
  • Champion deep discipleship of children and equip parents and caregivers with resources and practices that support discipleship at home.
  • Maintain excellent, proactive communication with parents and caregivers, including relational and personal touchpoints from Kids leaders.
  • Plan and lead events that meaningfully involve parents and caregivers, increase parental participation, strengthen family discipleship, and create accessible on-ramps for new families.

  • Recruit and galvanize leaders with a high level of self-initiative, continually building the volunteer and leadership teams needed for current ministry and future growth.
  • Develop, train, shepherd, and appreciate Kids leaders, creating a healthy culture of ownership, growth, pastoral care, and multiplication.
  • Teach at Leader Trainings and provide ongoing vision casting that connects leaders to the mission, values, and direction of Greenhouse Kids.
  • Ensure inclusive ministry practices and systems that enable children of varying needs and abilities to participate meaningfully in Greenhouse Kids.
  • Manage kids budget.
  • Champion and oversee child safety policies, volunteer screening, check-in and check-out procedures, classroom coverage, incident response, and other systems necessary to provide consistently safe Kids Ministry environments.
  • Ensure staff and volunteers are appropriately trained in and consistently follow Greenhouse child protection and safety policies.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the FAM Coordinator and Foster & Adoption Ministry.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of foster/adoptive families, Family Advocates, volunteers, and wraparound-care teams.
  • Lead Foster Care and Adoption awareness initiatives, educational opportunities, and related ministry events, including TBRI training initiatives.
  • Build pastoral relationships with children and families through home and hospital visits as needed and presence at meaningful day-to-day moments such as plays, games, and school events.
  • Connect families experiencing needs with appropriate pastoral, ministry, church, or community resources.
  • Follow up with families on children’s baptism and get them plugged into GH Kids Church.
  • Participate in required ministry meetings, staff prayer, retreats, and other staff gatherings.
