About The Position

The WSYMCA is seeking Kids' Corner Program Staff Members to join our Childcare team at our Wells Ave location! This role provides a safe, supervised play environment for the children of WSYMCA members while parents or guardians are on the premises. The Y fosters a culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined, aiming to strengthen communities with purpose and intentionality.

Requirements

Infant and Adult CPR/AED, and First Aid.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Previous experience in children’s play, arts and crafts and group activities.
Required trainings for WSYMCA employees.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their watch.
Ascertain that all appropriate forms are completed by parent/guardian.
Monitor parents to ensure they sign in and out for their children.
Be thoroughly familiar with all emergency procedures and know how to use the paging system.
Plan play activities, songs, story-time, and creative play for children in their care.
Enforce health codes and good hygiene.
Responsible for finding a substitute when unable to work and notifying the supervisor as soon as possible for any substitutions.
Attend staff meetings when held.
Follow dress code: provided child watch t-shirt and name tag at all times.
Know/review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete related reports as required.
