About The Position

Batavia Park District is seeking enthusiastic, fun, and reliable individuals for the Kids Club program, which partners with the Batavia School District to provide before and after care at six elementary schools. The Kids Club Lead is responsible for the program structure and day-to-day operations of the Kids Club site, including the care of elementary school children, supervising staff, and communicating with parents.

Requirements

  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Aptitude to deal with multiple children’s needs at the same time
  • Utilize positive discipline techniques with children
  • Capability to manage a variety of personalities and behaviors in children, i.e. shy, upset, high energy
  • Ability to recognize sensitive situations with children and be able to respond in a timely and professional manner
  • Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to portray a professional image of the District
  • Capability to engage and manage children in group activities
  • High School diploma or 16 years of age with a demonstrated interest and skill in pursuing a career in education and/or child care
  • Two years of experience in working with children

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for the Kids Club program, responsible for opening, setup, breakdown, and closing of rooms in non-district and district buildings.
  • Plan rotation for counselors each day, and ensure that children/counselor ratio is accurate at all times.
  • Supervise staff during each shift, ensuring adherence to procedures and code of conduct.
  • Create monthly staff schedules.
  • Maintain and create a current inventory list of supplies.
  • Create a supply list as needed.
  • Assist counselors with supervision and discipline of participants.
  • Interact with children individually, through games and conversations.
  • Enforce positive behavior reinforcement techniques.
  • Communicate with parents and address any concerns they may have.
  • Communicate with School District staff on an as-needed basis.
  • Work with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association staff as needed.
  • Responsible for execution of planned activities.
  • Responsible for collecting and maintaining participant records.
  • Provide input on activities and games to supervisor.
  • Responsible for filling out behavior management and Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) accident/incident reports.
  • Update staff/school secretaries on any changes made to attendance.
  • Follow proper safety protocols for children and staff.
  • Provide first-aid care if needed and be familiar with medical needs of children.
  • Drive bus or van as needed for field trips on Klub Fun days, if a trip is scheduled.
  • Cover shifts if necessary to ensure children/counselor ratio is met.
  • Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of the District’s safety program.
