About The Position

Batavia Park District is looking for enthusiastic, fun and reliable individuals for the Kid's Club program. We partner with Batavia School District and provide before and after care at six elementary schools in the Batavia school district. Accepting applications for both AM & PM shifts! The Kids Club Counselor is responsible for providing supervision as well as a fun and safe environment for elementary children before and after their school day.

Requirements

  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Aptitude to deal with multiple children’s needs at the same time.
  • Utilize positive discipline techniques with children.
  • Capability to manage a variety of personalities and behaviors in children, i.e. shy, upset, high energy.
  • Ability to recognize sensitive situations with children and be able to respond timely.
  • Ability to communicate with the public.
  • Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to portray a professional image of the District.
  • Capability to engage and manage children in group activities.
  • High School diploma or 16 years of age with a demonstrated interest and skill in pursuing a career in education and/or child care
  • Two years of experience in working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up and taking down (games, crafts, sign-in/out book) the Kids Club area each shift.
  • Meet and greet children and parents.
  • Meet with parents to discuss issues as needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in group activities with children.
  • Assist children with homework as needed.
  • Set-up, instruct, assist and clean up craft activity with children.
  • Interact with children individually, games and conversations.
  • Responsible for attendance and missing child procedure.
  • Set-up and clean-up of snacks.
  • Provide first-aid care if needed and be familiar with medical needs to children.
  • Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of District’s safety program.
