About The Position

The Key Account Manager is responsible for commercially hunting new business, maintaining customer relationships, and coordinating bid requests. This role requires a broad knowledge of operations to understand client needs, sell innovative logistics and supply chain solutions, and provide optimal customer service. The position also involves administrative strength to manage multiple projects, understand client challenges, infiltrate clients by building relationships with decision-makers, and proactively suggest improvements. Service responsibilities include timely follow-up on inquiries, coordinating communication between operations and clients, defining and implementing client-specific SOPs, handling claims, and capturing/reporting performance. The role requires global and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer KPIs and internal metrics. Pricing responsibilities include accurate and timely quoting, consolidating bid requests, coordinating awarded business, and ensuring timely billing. Targets include meeting client milestones, correct invoicing within 7 days of project completion, timely settlement of disputes, and ensuring no overdue invoices.

Responsibilities

  • Commercially hunt new business at a healthy margin to grow the account.
  • Maintain relationships with the customer and all its stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and handle bid requests.
  • Understand operational needs, sell innovative solutions, and provide optimal customer service.
  • Keep up with timely and accurate administrative processes while maintaining an overview of multiple projects running parallel.
  • Understand client’s problems and challenges, while looking for opportunities to design, offer, sell and implement competitive logistics and supply chain solutions related but not limited to: air freight, ocean freight, domestic trucking, customs brokerage, project management, rigging, and assembly.
  • Infiltrate the client by building a close professional relationship with transportation and logistics decision makers/influencers.
  • Identify inefficiencies and proactively come with improvement suggestions.
  • Follow up and manage all customers’ inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate communication between local operation teams and the client to ensure all service expectations are being met.
  • Define and help implement client specific SOP’s and ensure that they are being adhered to throughout the organization.
  • Work closely with origin or destination stations to identify and solve any root cause issues that may be leading to service failures.
  • Handle claim process with customer as well as internally with insurance in case of loss and damage.
  • Ensure overall performance is captured and reported on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate globally and cross-functionally to ensure that customer requirements (Key Performance Indicators / Client & Strategic Objectives) and Internal MEC Performance Metrics (P&L, Operational Efficiency, Timely Billing, Continuous Improvement) are being met by operations in the defined areas of responsibility.
  • Accurately and timely quote.
  • Receive bid request from the client.
  • Retrieve internal input from the network within a given timeframe.
  • Consolidate input in Bid request format and submit to client in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate rewarded business with operation.
  • Ensure all required information is available to administratively process (bill) the executed services upon award of new business.
  • Monitor account receivables in the region to hit company target and ensure timely, accurate billing.
  • Ensure that all client requested milestones and metrics are being met to exceed expectations.
  • Ensure timely, correct and complete invoicing (Billing within 7 days of project completion).
  • Ensure disputes are quickly settled and invoices are paid on time (No invoices overdue).
  • Ensure claim settlement within clients dictated timeline of 20 days.
