About The Position

Ocular Therapeutix, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapies for eye diseases using its proprietary ELUTYX™ technology. The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for promoting approved products and establishing the Company as a leader in ophthalmology by developing and maintaining relationships with ophthalmic surgeons and relevant personnel in physician practices, clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers. The KAM will provide clinical training and assist accounts with the reimbursement process to drive product adoption. This role involves interacting with physicians, nurses, billing staff, administrators, and financial personnel within various healthcare settings. The KAM will collaborate with their Regional Director and Field Reimbursement Manager to create a territory business plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience selling in the pharmaceutical or medical field.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: Ophthalmology, Biologic products (injectable biologic product experience highly preferred), Buy & bill products, or Surgical products.
  • Proficiency in reimbursement-related matters and willingness to handle them at the account level.
  • Must be able to drive to customer offices and surgery centers within the assigned territory and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to travel for work-related meetings and functions (including overnight and/or weekend).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with situations requiring total account call, focused on hospitals or ambulatory surgery centers as well as office sites of care.
  • Experience with provider site reimbursement interactions (practice management, or practice billing and revenue cycle).
  • Experience working with a reimbursement support hub.
  • Experience working with specialty pharmacies.
  • Practice Management experience.
  • Launch experience.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve territory sales by executing quarterly and annual marketing strategies, including delivering branded sales messages, conducting in-surgery training, communicating rebates, scheduling educational programs, and supporting reimbursement and market access needs.
  • Develop product and disease state knowledge to educate healthcare professionals on clinical evidence, efficacy, and safety profiles.
  • Conduct in-surgery training sessions to ensure proper product usage.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the market, demographics, and market access information within the assigned sales territory.
  • Assist providers with reimbursement issues across various payer types including Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage, Commercial Managed Care, Medicaid, VA, TRICARE, Specialty Pharmacy, PBMs, ACOs, and IDNs.
  • Set up and execute speaker programs and manage promotional budgets for these programs.
  • Attend local/regional meetings where target physicians are present.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, privacy guidelines, and company policies.
