About The Position

Cleans and sanitizes kennels, sweep, mop, load and unload materials, feed and water animals, and other various activities that relate to the day to day kennel activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • No experience required.
  • Valid Class I Driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to become certified in Euthanasia.
  • Knowledge of the safe handling and general welfare of large and small animals.
  • Knowledge of pertinent animal control laws, regulations and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of work hazards.
  • Ability to care for animals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships public officials and employees and to deal with the public in a courteous and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting/standing).
  • Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent failing when walking, standing, crouching or navigating narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Ability to repetitively use hands/arms/legs.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize kennels and cages
  • Sweep and mop all areas inside the kennel.
  • Load and unload material such as pet food, cleaning chemicals, and other related items.
  • Feed and water all animals housed at the kennel twice daily
  • Spot clean and maintain the kennel areas periodically throughout the day.
  • Maintains equipment used in capturing and securing animals, including catch poles
  • Laundry of blankets and towels.
  • Assist with Euthanasia
  • Assist in loading and unloading crematory for use.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
