About The Position

Village Veterinary Hospital in Bosque Farms, NM is looking for a Kennel Assistant. This is a vital role in ensuring our pets are happy and healthy during their stay. The ideal candidate has a passion for animal welfare, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe environment for boarding and rescued pets. The clinic treats small animals (60%), large animals (40%), as well as emergencies. They offer full-service veterinary medical treatment, ranging from preventive medicine, dental cleanings, in-house laboratory, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasound, house calls, and emergency surgical care.

Requirements

Genuine love for dogs, cats, horses, cows and other pets.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Physical stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for long shifts.
Must be dependable, punctual, and available to work weekends and holidays (essential for pet care).

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a boarding facility, shelter, or vet clinic is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Feed and water animals according to schedules, provide daily walks and exercise, and offer enrichment/socialization.
Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, and common areas to prevent disease.
Observe animal behavior, appetite, and stool, reporting any concerns or illnesses immediately to supervisors.
Safely handle, transport, and bathe pets; assist with check-ins/check-outs as needed.
Strictly follow safety protocols for animal handling and infection control.
Assist doctors and technicians in appointments when needed.
