About The Position
The Lorain County Dog Kennel's mission is to serve the citizens of Lorain County in the seizure of stray and at-large dogs. Dog Kennel employees are committed to meet or exceed the expectations of the Lorain County Board of Commissioners and the Lorain County Administrator in the areas of service, performance and professionalism. We are committed to continuously improving our relationship with the public, the skills of our employees, and providing a safe and rewarding work environment. Under direction, cleans and maintains kennel areas, feeds animals, operates vehicles and kennel equipment, etc.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary education
- Training and/or experience which evidences a basic knowledge of maintenance/cleaning methods and techniques
- Experience dealing with animals
- Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license
- Ability to qualify for and remain insurable under the County's vehicle insurance policy
Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains kennel areas
- Feeds animals
- Operates vehicles and kennel equipment
- Recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action
- Work alone on most tasks
- Perform light manual labor
