About The Position

Montgomery Veterinary Associates (Carter Hill), part of the Suveto network of hospitals in Montgomery, Alabama, is hiring experienced full-time and part-time Kennel Assistants. The clinic serves pets and their owners in a welcoming environment and emphasizes compassionate care, cleanliness, and attention to each pet.

Kennel Assistants provide daily care for boarding dogs and cats and help maintain the kennel. They ensure pets are properly boarded in a safe, engaging environment and interact with clients during drop-offs and pick-ups. The work is physically active and demanding, involving frequent walking and interaction with dogs, monitoring animals indoors and in the play yard, and maintaining a clean facility. Candidates should understand dog behavior and body language and be able to safely redirect inappropriate behavior. They must remain active and attentive, communicate clearly with staff and owners, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of dog behavior and body language, with the ability to safely redirect dogs exhibiting inappropriate behavior.
• Excellent dog-handling skills and a passion for dogs of all sizes and personalities.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and owners, stay organized, and work independently.
• Friendly, customer-service-driven approach and passion for animal welfare.
• Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays if required.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience working in a dog daycare facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for boarding dogs and cats.
• Properly board pets and provide a safe, fun-filled environment.
• Monitor boarders indoors and in the play yard.
• Work with and safely handle groups of dogs, redirecting inappropriate behavior when needed.
• Interact with clients during pet drop-offs and pick-ups and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Keep records and check dogs in and out.
