About The Position

The KC-46 Aerial Refueling Systems team is made up of a diverse set of engineers that design, develop, test, certify, and support the following systems: aerial refueling boom, hose and drogue, aerial refueling operating station, and the remote vision system. In this role, the engineer will be the prime focal for aerial refueling boom, one of our many components or sub-systems that make up the aerial refueling platform. They will own components or sub-systems across the entire product lifecycle, integrating across multiple Boeing teams, external customers, and suppliers to ensure a quality system is designed, manufactured, tested, and maintained as part of the KC-46 platform. As a key player in one of the most advanced aerial refueling systems in the world, the candidate will oversee the design configuration of critical hardware that supports our mission to deliver unparalleled capabilities to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical systems or structural design, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with various geographically dispersed teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 9+ years’ experience in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience with CATIA or other CAD software.
  • Experience in computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics and/ or Unigraphics.
  • Experience with collecting, organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data; summarizing findings; developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates, and documents mechanical and structural payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages mechanical and structural system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Performs tests to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Leads supplier development, test, and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Leads investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Clearly communicates technical information with Boeing teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory delegates to certify and produce a product
