Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Missouri Teaching license with required certification for subject and level assigned. All teachers employed in an approved summer school program must hold a valid Missouri teaching certificate during their teaching assignment. This certificate must be at the proper level and in the content area for the summer teaching assignment. Teachers whose certificates have expired do not hold a valid certificate. Expired certificates must be renewed prior to the start of the summer session for the class to qualify for state aid.

Responsibilities

  • Develop or internalize year-long Missouri State standards-based (or other curriculum-based), backwards-planned unit plans and lesson plans that meet all students’ learning needs
  • Use assessment data to progress monitor and modify short and long-term plans in order to promote all students’ performance according to the Real World Learning pathways
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement
  • Maintain accurate records, grade book, and data tracking systems
  • Assume personal responsibility for student performance and outcomes
  • Collaborate with RWL manager, RWL teachers, and specials teachers to promote an environment of critical thinking, problems solving, and leadership development
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties
  • Attend critical school events such as staff trainings, staff meetings, morning huddles, and any other parent-student meetings and events
  • Meet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines
  • Exemplify the school cultural expectations
