This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include providing students in kindergarten up to eight grade comprehensive counseling and support services, as well as facilitating their educational, personal, and social development. The role involves collaboration with educators and parents, maintaining student records, and participating in program development. Additionally, the position requires evaluating student abilities and interests, managing extracurricular activities, and ensuring compliance with administrative policies.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.

Compensation: $58,003 - $79,685 (Depending on Experience)

Requirements

• Master’s degree in school counseling or related field is required.
• A valid Colorado teaching Special Services License is required.
• Advanced ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
• Advanced ability to understand human behavior and adjusts one’s own action in relation to other actions.
• Advanced negotiation and conflict management skills regarding situations with students, teachers, or families.
• Advanced ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
• Advanced ability to effectively manage multiple competing deadlines.
• Advanced ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English for interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, writing routine reports and correspondence, speaking before a group of customers or employees, and leading activities.

Nice To Haves

• 4 + years of experience as an elementary or middle school counselor, or related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and counseling to students on educational matters, including course selection, class scheduling, and registration, while assisting them in overcoming personal, social, or behavioral challenges.
• Deliver crisis intervention services during challenging situations within the school environment and conduct follow-up interviews to assess the fulfillment of student needs.
• Prepare students for future educational endeavors by encouraging exploration of learning opportunities and perseverance in challenging tasks.
• Identify instances of domestic abuse or other familial issues and advocate for students or parents to seek additional support from mental health professionals.
• Offer students with disabilities access to assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance in utilizing facilities.
• Collaborate with educators and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs, as well as the preparation of master schedules for curriculum offerings.
• Engage with parents or guardians, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to discuss student progress, resolve issues, and establish priorities for student resources.
• Participate in meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops, and contribute to committees.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records in compliance with legal requirements, district policies, and administrative regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports on student activities and progress as mandated by administration.
• Assess students' abilities, interests, and personality traits through tests, records, interviews, or professional sources, and compile occupational, educational, and economic information to assist in formulating and achieving vocational and educational goals.
• Observe students during classroom and recreational activities to evaluate their performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Sponsor and oversee extracurricular activities, including clubs, student organizations, and academic competitions.
• Establish and enforce administrative policies and regulations governing student behavior.
• Assist with other duties as assigned
