About The Position

The K-6 Reading Interventionist position at Charles Hay World School is responsible for providing targeted intervention support to elementary-age students. This role involves delivering small group reading instruction focused on specific skills identified through diagnostic assessments. The interventionist will strategically plan reading instruction, oversee the identification and management of students for READ plans, and support grade-level teachers in implementing intervention strategies and utilizing specific reading programs like Lexia and Reading Plus. Additionally, the position requires providing feedback to stakeholders on student performance and encouraging parent/guardian involvement in student learning through various communication channels and events. The role also emphasizes developing and promoting good community relations among all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts.
  • Experience with targeted groups of students (Sp. Ed., ELL, Low SES).
  • English fluency will be determined through the interview process and licensure.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License.
  • Endorsed in Elementary Education and/or Special Education and/or Linguistically Diverse.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to changing school needs.
  • Possesses strong computer and educational technology skills.
  • Works effectively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with supervisors, school leadership, and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and executing complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal daily supervision.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with the entire School District community.
  • Skilled in data analysis, instruction, coordination, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted intervention support to elementary-age students.
  • Provide small group reading instruction, focused on targeted skills based on diagnostic assessments of students' reading skills.
  • Strategically plan reading instruction including interventions.
  • Oversee the identification and management of students for READ plans.
  • Support grade-level teachers in implementing intervention strategies and in using Lexia and Reading Plus in their classrooms.

  • Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.

  • Create an instructional learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
  • Collaborate with specialists and provide unique learning opportunities such as inclusion and research-based effective practices for students with special needs.
  • Promote a learning environment respecting the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
  • Incorporate additional learning opportunities for advanced and non-proficient students.
  • Ensure all classroom processes, procedures and data collection are highly organized and effective with optimal use of instructional time.
  • Motivate, engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments that incorporate contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with 21st-century learning.
  • Collaborate with educators from other grades or subject areas to establish links between disciplines and influence school-wide curriculum and teaching practice.
  • Deliver content that is relevant to students and applicable to the real world.
  • Integrate and align Colorado Academic Standards, instructional objectives, instructional strategies, learning activities, materials, resources and assessments and differentiate lesson planning based on individual student needs.
  • Use data management tools to analyze results and draw inferences from data to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and timely feedback to students that encourages them to perform at their highest level.
  • Utilize technology and/or other avenues to communicate to stakeholders (website, podcasts, etc).
  • Establish student, staff, and parental rapport that enables proactive responses to potential problems.
  • Actively participate in all staff meetings, PLCs, and other required events.
  • Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to improve instructional programming.
  • Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of school.
  • Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Possible supervision of support personnel.
  • Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
  • Create and implement effective, efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, instructional groups, transition materials, and supplies).
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
  • Review processes for improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure instructional quality.
