About The Position

The K-5 Music Teacher plans and implements a blended learning environment and creates an inviting, exciting, innovative, and engaging classroom that develops students’ critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. The teacher prepares students for strong academic achievement and required assessments, works with special education teachers and administration to serve students with special needs, and establishes and enforces classroom rules and procedures. The role includes attending grade-level and staff meetings and designated school functions outside school hours; performing morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties; accepting and incorporating administrative feedback and coaching; dressing professionally; upholding school policies; and performing other duties deemed appropriate by the principal. This is a part-time, 10-month position reporting to the principal and administrative team.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in the content area.
• Strong technical skills, particularly integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement.
• Demonstrated volunteer or community service.
• At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Louisiana Teaching License preferred.

• Perform duties including morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties.
• Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the principal.
• Dress professionally and uphold all school policies.
