About The Position

The K-5 Little Warriors Afterschool Program is designed to empower students to embrace their genius, establish a sense of community, and explore learning activities that enhance their health and well-being. This is done through active play, project-based learning, and enriched learning experiences. Staff will lead students in academic enrichment, arts, STEM, and community building activities. In addition, staff members will create a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Some college experience preferred.
Experience in (or currently studying): education, social work, public service, health careers, nonprofits.
Strong communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Demonstrate professional responsibilities
Passion to serving the community and ensuring student success
Basic knowledge of using technology (computers, iPad, tablets, projector, etc.)
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Comfortable communicating with elementary school students and families
Experience working with diverse populations
Regularly required to talk or hear.
Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Ensure that the mission and core values of the Organization are put into practice
Implement the After School model
Develop students’ skills and interest in Reading and STEM
Assist with the overall planning and implementation of the daily programming and activities
Assist with daily procedures and program structures
Manage student attendance and activities
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space
Develop and support children’s academic and social-emotional needs
Attend team meetings as assigned
Perform other duties assigned for which the employee is qualified and physically able to perform.
Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
