About The Position

John Sevier Elementary is seeking a K-3 teaching candidate for multiple full-time positions for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires current K-6 Tennessee Department of Education certification with proof of highly qualified status and related work experience. The candidate will be expected to participate in a multi-step interview process. The school is looking for individuals who can work collaboratively, build positive relationships with students and families, understand the K-3 State of Tennessee Curriculum, and effectively use data resources like iReady, Aimsweb, Scholastic, and STAR Reading to drive instruction. Proficiency in integrating technology for instruction and communication is also desired, along with an understanding of student learning styles and age-appropriate instructional strategies. A strong desire to build meaningful relationships and promote a sense of belonging is essential. The position also involves organizing, participating in, and attending after-school and evening programs. The candidate should exemplify honesty, integrity, loyalty, humor, and professionalism. Physical requirements include the ability to perform duties such as lifting 50 pounds regularly, sitting and standing for extended periods, and walking and seeing.

Requirements

  • Current K-6 Tennessee Department of Education certification
  • Proof of highly qualified status
  • Related work experience
  • Complete understanding of K-3 State of Tennessee Curriculum
  • Comfortable in using data resources such as iReady, Aimsweb, Scholastic, STAR Reading, etc.
  • Ability to share results with appropriate stakeholders
  • Ability to use data to drive instruction
  • Confidence in integrating technology into instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
  • Understanding of student learning styles, age-appropriate instructional strategies, and educational best practices
  • Ability to perform physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting 50 pounds regularly, sitting for extended periods, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods, etc.)
