About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a K-2 Music Teacher Substitute for Veritas Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. The role involves teaching assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons, and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom. Fine arts are part of the core curriculum at Great Hearts, and music coursework includes performance as well as music theory, history, and appreciation. The position supports students’ academic and behavioral needs, upholds academy policies and culture, communicates with families, and participates in the broader life of the academy. Some local travel may be required for training, professional development, special events, or field trips. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for a lead teaching role.
• US work authorization is required; OPT/CPT candidates are accepted.
• Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

• Teaching certification is not required for general education.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials.
• Prepare thoughtful lessons and cultivate an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students and monitor their progress.
• Partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model Great Hearts’ culture, policies, and expectations, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiate conferences as needed, and foster strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate in faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and ongoing professional growth.
