About The Position

Uncommon Schools is seeking dedicated teachers for all grades and subjects for the 25-26 and 26-27 school years. Teachers are responsible for implementing Uncommon's curriculum and ensuring student success. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement through collaboration and professional development. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about urban youth achieving greatness and believe in Uncommon's educational philosophy. A background in education is not required for new teachers, but a passion for working with K-12 students and prior experience in schools or urban communities is preferred. Experienced teachers should have a proven track record of high achievement and at least two years of experience in an urban public or charter school setting.

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher by the time employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred for new teachers.
  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom (for experienced teachers).
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting (for experienced teachers).
  • Valid State Certification (helpful but not required).
  • Master's degree (helpful but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Implement curricula and activities to meet high academic standards.
  • Analyze assessments to measure progress and use data to inform and differentiate instructional practices.
  • Focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs.
  • Create a positive, structured learning environment that uphms students' core values, high expectations, and code of conduct.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in staff orientation and ongoing instructional training.
  • Participate and support grade-level activities and school-wide functions.
