About The Position

University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face teachers with a passion for supporting students in grades K-12 for the 2026-2027 school year in the Vallejo City, CA area. In this role, under the direction of the University Instructors’ team, and the school district, you will create an engaging and safe learning environment for students. University Instructors partners with schools to provide students with purposeful learning experiences led by inspirational educators. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, Science, Social Science or a related field.
  • Must meet the Content Knowledge standards required for a provisional teaching license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a K-12 school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary education best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Three years of experience leading K-12 instruction.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching.
  • An understanding and working knowledge of subject standards.
  • Skills necessary to teach reading in a manner compatible with the curriculum.
  • Be local to the area.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (degree in education preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching certification in K-12 education preferred
  • Eligible for, or in possession of, appropriate CA Teaching Certificate (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and participation.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Integrate technology and other innovative tools to enhance learning experiences.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding academic performance and behavior.
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instructional practices and interventions.
  • Establish and enforce clear classroom rules and expectations to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Address and manage behavioral issues promptly and effectively.
  • Create a supportive and respectful classroom culture that fosters mutual respect and cooperation.
  • Work closely with colleagues, including assistant teachers, special education staff, and administration, to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements.
  • Lead or contribute to school committees, events, and initiatives as needed.
  • Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time.
  • Attend evening, virtual ILC meetings.
